Childhood and adolescence

Born in 1954 in Fontaine-Luyères, Jean-Marie Bigard is the youngest of a modest family. His father was a butcher. However, he had to quit for health reasons, while his mother worked in an automobile factory. Holidays on the family farm were a happy time for him. School was a burden for him, as he was allergic to rules and limits.

Difficult beginnings

Jean-Marie Bigard started writing and presenting sketches with his friend Tex in Paris to try to get into Philippe Bouvard’s television show. Although Bouvard is not convinced by his performances, he considers him a good author and advises him to write for others.

With his friend Philippe Hodara, former author of the Petit Théâtre de Bouvard, Bigard wrote a show called « Spare Parts ». The show takes place at the Théâtre du Point-Virgule, but it does not meet with success at first. Several other comedians took turns performing in the play over the next two years. In the meantime, Bigard follows the gestation of a new television program entrusted to Fabrice on the third channel. The successes of Jean-Marie Bigard

In 1987, Jean-Marie Bigard was discovered by the public on the show “La Classe” on FR3. He wrote more than a hundred sketches with Laurent Baffie, Franck Godard or Pierre Veys. He also writes for Dummiesincluding the famous sketch « Toniglandyl » in 1990.

In 1995, he presented a new show entitled « 100% Tout Neuf », seen by nearly 300,000 people. He returned in 2000 with « Bigard puts the package », where he talks about sexuality more raw than ever.

His autobiography « Rire pour ne pas mort » was published in 2007. In 2009, he presented « Super Best Of, la tour du Patron » and in 2011, his tenth show “N° 9 de Bigard”.

In 2011, he announced the release of his tenth show entitled N° 9 de Bigard, in which he tackled the theme of passing time. He had already announced his ambition to create twelve one-man shows, and so he only had two shows left to perform. He began running his show from March 2012.

In 2014, Jean-Marie Bigard take on a new challenge. By bringing together 150 satellite cinemas for a show, called Bigard turns 60 on its birthday. He brings together his best sketches and several of his friends participate.

In 2015, he presented his last show entitled “We women”. Show where he gives the floor to women so that men take the mouthful, him first. However, in 2016, he fell victim to an infection after a dental operation and close to fatal sepsis. He collapses on stage during a performance at Florac.

Despite these problems, he continued to perform on stage. He announced in 2021 a provincial tour with Bigard & Friends. As well as a Christmas Best of for November and December 2021. He also announced his last show, entitled « The show of my life », in 2022 at the Futuroscope convention center in Poitiers.

The private life of Jean-Marie Bigard

Jean-Marie Bigard met Claudia, a Brazilian dancer, in 1990, when she was part of the Paradis Latin troupe. They married in 1991, but their journey to start a family has been difficult. The couple tried eleven times to conceive a child through in vitro fertilization, but without success. This ordeal affected their relationship, and they grew apart over time.

In 2009, after the birth of their son Sasha, Jean-Marie Bigard filed for divorce. Sasha was born thanks to an egg donation. And he should have had a twin, but unfortunately this one didn’t survive. This experience was very painful for the couple and certainly contributed to their separation.

After meeting Lola Marois a few years ago, he formalizes their relationship and separates from his former wife. Despite her health problems, he wanted to have a child with her consent. In January 2011, his divorce with Claudia is pronounced, then in June of the same year, he marries Lola Marois. Together they had twins, Jules and Bella, born very premature in November 2012.
